For those who follow SIS closely, you'll notice that we haven't held any of our investigative interviewing classes for a few months. So what gives? Where have we been? Well, it turns out that our commitment to criminal justice reform knows no bounds so when we were presented with an opportunity to make real change, we had to jump at it.

In late 2022, our founding member was asked by Commissioner Louis Molina to join his team at the New York City Department of Correction in the newly formed Office of Management, Analysis & Planning. Stuart was appointed as the Assistant Commissioner of Strategic Initiatives and Program Evaluation and asked to take on an exciting portfolio of projects designed to champion the reform efforts at the DOC.
This was an incredible opportunity to apply skills and experience gained over decades of public sector leadership to the massively challenge of reforming this venerable organization but it required a full commitment to the work and required us to suspend our training and consulting efforts in the meantime. While this was certainly not ideal from an SIS standpoint, the chance to impact the lives of New Yorkers and to help guide the future of the DOC was a truly worthy cause and one which we felt justified the break.

It's been said that things happen for a reason and sometimes life gets in the way. That has certainly been the case with this short journey to the DOC but we're pleased that Stuart is now back and available to continue building on the investigative interviewing capacity of public servants across the United States.
