This three-day course provides students with an overview of current research that has been developed from the United States High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group (HIG), a multi-year, multi-million-dollar intelligence community joint venture designed to ensure that our military and intelligence interrogators have access to the most effective techniques for gaining information from human subjects. Instruction will include effective planning and preparation, how to establish and maintain rapport, techniques used to elicit complete narratives, how to strategically use evidence in an interview, how to identify and mitigate resistance, and how to use cognitive cues to assess credibility. Attendees will be provided with a comprehensive framework they can use to manage interviews and will conduct practical exercises designed to increase understanding and retention of the methods introduced in class. This class teaches the most current, science-based methods that are effective, fair, and legally defensible.
